I take a lot of images and it’s always a challenge to decide which i think are worthy of being on this site. Some i have less of an attachment to but they make a good wall picture. Some i love and they mean a lot to me but i know they wouldn’t be of much interest to others. That’s the funny thing with print sales, appeal is so individual and subjective.
This image though. Is here because i find it unique. Sometimes i look at it and i see humour. The stationary bird looks like it may just be about to get clattered. Other times i think it’s so graceful.
The picture was taken in the Beagle Channel, a 240-kilometer strait in the Tierra del Fuego archipelago at the southern tip of South America.
The birds are Imperial Cormorants (Leucocarbo atriceps). Also known as the Imperial Shag or King Cormorant, these striking birds feature glossy black plumage, a stark white breast, bright pinkish feet, and a vivid blue eye-ring.
