Is there anything more iconic of Chile than seeing a condor soaring overhead with Torres del Paines National Park in the backdrop?
We were tipped off by the chap that ran a gear rental store in Puerto Natales about a ridge walk along Cerro Benitez. Located around 25 kilometres north of Puerto Natales, it sits at an elevation of 550 meters above sea level near Laguna Sofía and the Eberhard Fjord.
It’s also a spectacular Condor viewpoint. As we summited the peak, we were welcomed by one of these incredible birds, stood around 4ft tall!. Whilst they look big in the air, they appear even bigger at ground level when only a few meters away.
