My first ever hummingbird. A moment i won’t ever forget.
It was the day we were due to leave our rainforest accommodation. The boat was waiting on the Rio Madre de Dios to take us back to Puerto Maldonado and our flight back to the bike in Cusco but as we walked from the front of the building, this bird was flying like nothing i’d seen before. Moving to track it through the foliage, it finally landed.
Perched there on a bird of paradise plant, it stood like a jewel. It sparkled green, blue and purple as it moved in the sunlight.
