TIERRA DEL FUEGO

from £45.00

On a day trip out of Ushuia, Argentina, we came upon this view along the valley at Mirador del Valle Carbajal. It was our first real glimps of just how immense the landscape is in Patagonia.

It’s quite misleading to know that this area, known as the land of fire when all about you is rock and ice. The name originated in 1520 when Portuguese explorer Ferdinand Magellan sailed through the region. Approaching the frigid shores at night, he and his crew spotted numerous bonfires lit by the indigenous Yamana and Selk'nam peoples, who used the flames to keep warm.

Having witnessed the scene you see here in print though, i could well have believed that it was named the land of fire as the golden glow of the southern hemisphere sun ignites the land in contrast to the cold whites and blues of the icy peaks.

All prints are presented on Hahnemühle Photo Rag Giclée paper.

Sizes available:

A4 fine art print, edition of 50

A3 fine art print, edition of 50

Each artwork comes with an exclusive Certificate of Authenticity (COA), containing signature and edition number. Safe, tracked delivery guaranteed worldwide.
