There are two nights that stand out above all others from our travel from the southern most tip of Argentina to L.A. and this is the scene of one of them.
We hadn’t expected to be staying on lake Titikaka. Literally, suspended over the water in a stilted cabin, but that’s where we found ourselves. The bike had been stowed in the rear of a shop on the shore and we’d been taken by boat some half an hour out into the lake.
The family hosting us were zipping back and forth in a little boat to bring us coca tea and preparing a meal from a small shed-like structure close to the “house”.
As the light fell, the sky began to illuminate as storm rolled through, one after another. They were all around us. We sat in darkness mesmerised, our faces and the neighbouring huts lit intermittently by the strobing light
